Weissman, Nowack, Curry & Wilco, P.C., (“WNCW”), one of the nation’s premier real estate law firms, is pleased to announce that Julie McGhee Howard, a partner with the firm since 2004, has been named a shareholder at WNCW.

Ms. Howard is an accomplished and well-respected attorney, providing general counsel to condominium and homeowner associations since she joined the firm in 1996.  She manages the firm’s community association practice group and leads the firm’s community association bankruptcy team.  In addition, Julie is editor of Community Advisor magazine, the official WNCW publication for community association clients.

She is actively involved in national community association trade organizations as well as local politics and has appeared on television and in various print media promoting the voice and needs of community associations in Georgia.  She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the national Community Associations Institute (“CAI”).  A past president, treasurer and secretary of the Georgia Chapter of CAI, Julie served on the Chapter’s Board of Directors for six years and, in 2003, was awarded the Rita Kennedy Award, the highest honor given by the Chapter.  She is active with CAI-Georgia’s Legislative Action Committee, and on behalf of the Committee and the firm, she is a registered lobbyist.

“Julie’s dedication to her clients and the firm continues to grow as her responsibilities expand,” comments Tonia Sellers, Managing Partner of the firm. “She is a very talented lawyer, whose creative and strategic thinking add further distinction to our community association practice on a local and national level.”

In recognition of Julie’s contributions to the practice of community association law and her high standards of professional and ethical conduct, Julie was elected to membership in the prestigious College of Community Association Lawyers in 2009.  In addition, since 1998, Julie has been a licensed instructor for the Georgia Real Estate Commission, teaching the Community Association Managers’ Pre-license Course and continuing education courses to Georgia’s community association managers.

She received her law degree from the University of Georgia (JD, 1993) and her undergraduate degree from Furman University (BA, 1990).
