-Atlanta- Frank O. Brown, Jr., a litigation partner with Weissman, Nowack, Curry & Wilco, PC was named the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association's Associate Member of the Year. He received the award at the HBA's annual awards dinner.
The Associate Member of the Year Award recognizes an HBA associate (non-builder) member for accomplishments in service to the industry and association, professional excellence and community involvement and furthering the mission and goals of the association.
"We congratulate Frank on this most deserved honor. The leadership he exhibits through his practice and work in the community is exemplary," said Tonia C. Sellers, managing partner of Weissman, Nowack, Curry & Wilco.
Brown is general counsel to the HBA. He has served on The Housing Institute/Certified Professionals Home Builder program Board of Directors since 2003 and is a HomeAid Atlanta founding board member. He guided the organization on its Partnering Guide and Homeowner Handbook and contracts developed for use by HBA members. Additionally, Brown serves on the Action Fund Committee that oversees all legal actions taken by HBA and authors amicus briefs used by the HBA Government Affairs department.
He represents builders and developers in real estate development and construction disputes and is a registered arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association. Brown is editor of Developments, Weissman, Nowack, Curry & Wilco's newsletter to builders and developers and has authored articles for industry publications. A frequent speaker on builder/developer issues, he is also a guest instructor in the Emory Trial Advocacy Program.
Brown is a member of the Advisory Board of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, American Arbitration Association, Atlanta Bar Association, Lawyers Club of Atlanta and the State Bar of Georgia.
The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association is a 4,100 member, not-for-profit trade association affiliated with the Home Builders Association of Georgia and the National Association of Home Builders.
